Junior Athletics Fun Day

We had the best day ever at our Athletics Day! The sun was shining, there was no wind and there was lots of fun and laughter! All the Junior classes went out and did different activities around 'run, jump, throw'. They were in mixed teams, so the Year 2's were the big kids and helped the little ones so well. We also had PAL leaders and Yr 6 children helping.
At the end we had sprint finals.

Masterchef Room 21

We are the Masterchefs of HNPS! We were making instant pudding in groups. Our challenge was to make a pudding to be judged by Mrs O.  It had to be

  • thick enough to stand a spoon in
  • smooth on top with no lumps
We made the pudding by reading the directions and each one in the group had a job to do, such as measuring and pouring the milk, sprinkling the powder on, beating with an egg beater, putting the bowl in the fridge.

After an hour Mrs O judged them. There were two groups who met the above, smooth and thick!
then the fun part - eating it and trying different flavours. Yum!

We are the Bees Knees at Arataki!

Last week Room 21 visited Arataki Honey to learn more about bees and how honey is made. It was such an amazing trip. We go to see Queen Bees, dress up as bee keepers or bees, make bees wax candles and discover how those clever bees work so hard to make us honey.

Calendar Art

This year's calendar art has been completed. We used the special spinning art we did with Mel as background and added our silhouette in black to make our art more personal.
Please have a look below and you can get the idea before you make an order. The art is also found in a folder at the office.

Junior Cross-Country

Last Wednesday was cross-country day! the sun was shining, no wind to drive us crazy, so it was a glorious Spring day!
Parents and whanau came to watch us run, and run we did! Everyone gave their best, and kept on going even when it got hard. There were lots of cheering and clapping to urge us on.
